Brent Miles – HOD Woodwind
Qualifications :- (ATCL) Diploma in Music Performance Clarinet Recital 2006. (LGSMD ) Licentiate Guildhall Speech Music and Drama. 21 years professional Clarinet playing with the military band in South Africa. South African Army Band (Cape Town) He holds the position of principal Clarinettist for the past 15years. He is also a member of the Windworx Symphonic Wind Band under the direction of Sean Kierman former HOD Brass at the University of Cape Town. He is currently the HOD of the Woodwind Section.

Marvin Gilliland – HOD Percussions
Marvin Gilliland is a Professional freelance Drum Kit teacher/performer who studied music at PROmpt Music Institution in 2001 and holds a Performance Certificate.He has over 10 years’ teaching experience. He was the Top Achiever on the Trinity College of London’s Board- passed with a Distinction in 2012 and won more Distinctions in (Drums) 2014 and 2017. Currently he is teaching at Pinelands Primary school, Athlone Academy of Music and Woodstock Academy of Music and prepares drummers for Trinity College of London External Examinations to be Certified.

Matthew Siljeur, HOD Piano
At present he is the holder of an LTCL (TD) Licentiate in Music Performance since May 1994 through Trinity College London. Matthew has students ranging from beginner to advanced level in piano, which includes teacher training in piano. With 24 years of teaching experience he has been very fortunate to assist students in a variety of contexts eg; Concert Performance and exam preparation through Trinity, Associated Board and Unisa. He also does voluntary work in his church as organist and pianist since his early teens. He is currently teaching piano and is the HOD of the Piano section at the Athlone Academy of Music.

Antoinette Pieters – HOD Strings
She is currently preparing for her Grade 7 Viola Practical and is working towards her Trinity Licentiate. Music tuition started in her church where she received tuition in violin and viola. Antoinette has been teaching music privately for +- 15 years. She has been teaching at the Athlone Academy of Music for the past 5 years and is currently the HOD of the Strings Section.

Jevano Swartz
Jevano was a student at the Athlone Academy of Music. He completed his Grade 7 Trinity College exam through the Academy. He has gone on to study music at University of Cape Town and is currently in his second year, doing his B.Mus ( Bachelor of Music). He has been playing the Silver Flute since the age of 12. He is currently teaching students of all ages from beginner to advanced level at the Athlone Academy of Music. He also does voluntary work in the community and plays regularly at children’s and seniors Homes as well as the Red Cross Children’s Hospital. In his church he plays in the orchestra. He is also a member of the UCT Wind Band. He has 4 years teaching experience.

Craig Petersen
Craig completed the Certificate course at Stellenbosch University and is furthering his studies at Youngsfield Army Base Music School (Via Stellenbosch University). He has an ( Trombone) (ATCL) Diploma in Music Performance through Trinity College. At present Craig has students ranging from beginner to advanced level (Practical and Theory). He also does voluntary work in his church as organist and pianist since his early teens. He has 5 years teaching experience. He teaches Theory of Music and Brass (practical) at the Athlone Academy of Music.

Bernard Damon
Bernard started his music career at the age of 8 when he chose the piano accordion. He proceeded to guitar and piano. He played lead guitar in various Jazz Bands. He did his Jazz Studies through Cape Jazz School completing Grade 4 at the Cape Jazz School workshop. He proceeded to studying drums and travelled to the USA and Dubai where he worked as an entertainer/ pianist for 14 years. He meanwhile went on to studying Classical Music. He has 15 years of teaching experience.  He is currently teaching students of all ages from beginner to advanced level at the Athlone Academy of Music and will be taking his Grade 5 Trinity College Classical Piano Exam. He also does voluntary work in the community and plays regularly at children’s and seniors’ old age Homes and also plays the organ/piano in his church. He has 14 years teaching experience. He is teaching Piano (practical) at the Athlone Academy of Music for the past 5 years

William Sethusa
At present he is the holder of a Grade 8 Royal School practical piano and is currently studying for his Trinity Diploma qualifications (ATCL) Diploma in Music Performance. With 15 years of teaching experience, he has been very fortunate to assist students in a variety of contexts eg; Concert Performance and exam preparation through Trinity, Associated Board and Unisa. At present he is the holder of the following Grade 8 Royal School practical piano and is currently studying for his Trinity Diploma qualifications (ATCL) Diploma in Music Performance. He also does voluntary work in his church as organist and pianist since his early teens.
